Making your Home Appear more traditional

A traditional home doesn’t exactly have to be 18th century with countless period features throughout, you can create a traditional style pretty much out of nothing and it can work to make your home stand out a bit more with a different kind of character.

Timber beams do not always have to be used for structural purposes and adding timber beams to your walls or ceilings can work to make your home feel that little bit more traditional, but if you are going to do this you should always choose an aged timber with a few knots and chips.

Walls and flooring are two important aspects of every home, and opting for timber floorboards and exposed brick walls can give your home countryside barn feel, while the style can be taken further with a traditional stove or fireplace.

Depending on the era you want to focus your home’s design on, you can opt for Victorian door knobs, units and banisters. These often benefit from beautiful intricate details, and they can go a long way in terms of making your home appear more traditional.
