If you are considering having a lino flooring in a particular room in your home, it is important that the base it will be fitted to is ready and prepared. Although underlay is not necessary underneath lino, the floor that it is placed onto needs to be smooth and flat.

If you have pulled up an old carpet and found that the floor boards have ridges or bumps along them, or if the concrete below is chipped and damaged, you will need to smooth this out before laying the lino flooring. The best ways to prepare the area, is by screeding the floor or by lying some 6mm ply wood. Each of these options is dependent on the original flooring.

Once smooth and fully prepared, the lino is ready to be laid. It is recommended to hire a professional to fit your lino, as they are able to cut and fit the lino in whilst producing a professional finished look.
